The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and St. Norbert College are getting together to host a collegiate curling tournament Saturday and Sunday at the Green Bay Curling Club, 781 Mike McCarthy Way.
UWGB and St. Norbert will field teams, as will Oklahoma University, Wayne State (Mich.), UW-Stevens Point and the Medical College of Wisconsin at St. Norbert.
Admission is free and food is available. Games take place from 9 a.m.to 7 p.m. Saturday, with the finals in three events at 9 a.m. Sunday.
“We hope to make this an annual affair,” said Josh Braun, co-chairman of the inaugural event. Braun, a junior at UWGB, is president of the UWGB Curling Club and a Sturgeon Bay native. Matt Carlson, a sophomore at St. Norbert, is also co-chair.
Braun said he expects a high level of competition, as several of the teams have players with high school and college experience.
“It will be a fun weekend,” said Carlson.
